IJ Start Canon PIXMA MG8240 Configuration– Canon’s home users and especially large, all-in-one printers designed for photo enthusiasts made a pretty important name for themselves. The Pixma MG8240 is located at the top of its product range, so there are all the extras that the company can assign.
The matte appearance of the printer, which is said to be modeled on the EOS series digital cameras, is a greater improvement in shimmering fingerprint-prone models, and we can only hope that the new appearance filters are closed. The top of the scanner looks quite flat until you open the lid of the machine, only the 88mm LCD screen does not burn in the middle of the lid, the illuminated touch buttons come forward, and the indicators shine along the surrounding surroundings beautifully. It’s kind of magic.
- Direct CD/DVD printing
- Fastest A4 Pixma Printer
- Remote printing with Pixma Cloud Link
- Eos camera image and sensation
Under the cover is a folded front panel with a paper cassette of 150 sheets, which becomes an output tray. There is a second 150-sheet paper tray that lifts up from the back of the machine, so you can load both plain and photo paper at the same time. A third print source is the CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs that you get by pulling down a guide inside the printer and sliding it into the supplied disc tray.
To the right of the front panel, the pop-up lid provides access to three memory card slots that add CompactFlash to SD and MemoryStick, which is a regular memory complement. Underneath, there is a USB/PictBridge socket to print from your camera. Another way to take a picture to this printer is to remove the white reflector under the scanner cover and use the transparency adapter to scan slides or negatives and use resolutions up to 4,800 X 9,600 PPI.
Other data connections are USB, 10/100 Ethernet and wireless. Wireless connectivity is especially noticeable because it provides access to a wide range of direct printing technologies, including Pixma Cloud link, which uses Google cloud Print, and AirPrint for IPad, IPhone and other wireless Apple devices.
The machine uses six inks with both pigmented and dye-based black and extra gray inks to add to the CMY set, which is useful when printing black and white photos. Each one is attached to the semi-permanent head and flashes when the LED indicators are positioned correctly and the ink is low.
Canon claims that the Pixma MG8240 is at a slightly higher speed than any other machine in the range of 9.3 ppm for black, 12.5 ppm and color. We saw this slight increase for example in the Canon PIXMA MG6250 model, but still did not comply with Canon’s allegations.
Our 5-page black text print came in at 8.3 ppm, and the 20-page document took it to 9.9 ppm, which resulted in good results. Our five-page black text and color graphic print returned 4.6 ppm, and even our 20-sided double-sided document directed 3.5 sides per minute, better than ever.
A single-page color copy, depending on the quality setting of a bubbly 32s, and a perfectly adequate 53s ranging from a respectable 22s and 15 x 10 cm photos took. Even in the Normal setting, print quality is good, sharp on plain paper, and greatly clean black text, and a very useful draft mode that saves ink and much faster.
Colors in commercial graphics are bright and clear, and color copies lose some of their vitality compared to their originals. Photo results are extremely good with complex levels of detail that extend into darker, shaded areas of images. Colors can be both soft and pastel, but bright and sharp, depending on the request of your photo. There is little to touch the quality of Canon photo prints in the home printer market.
There is only one set of cartridges available for this machine, and it is a pity that Canon does not offer a highly efficient alternative. Using the best prices we’ve found, it gives you a cost-per-page black and 3.7 p for the ISO color of 9.5 p. These are among the most expensive ink-jet prices compared to their competitors, especially unfortunate that there is too much downward pressure on the ink prices.
This is a beautiful all-in-one printer for anyone interested in general-purpose home use but with the reproduction of photos. It is fun to use, produces excellent prints at reasonable speeds, but is relatively expensive to operate. Extras such as transparency adapter and CD/DVD printing, and remote printing from a wide range of devices make it a very flexible scanning and printing device.
